Voice disorders are characterized as changes in voice quality due to a variety of diagnoses, such as vocal nodules, neurological disorders, aging, vocal tension, and respiratory difficulties.

Symptoms of a voice disorder:

  • Vocal fatigue

  • Feeling strained or effortful when speaking

  • Hoarseness/gravelly vocal quality

  • Voice breaks

  • Chronic cough/throat clearing

  • Difficulty being heard
